Unsure on what wheel nut covers are, their purpose, importance or different types and sizes? Well, MSR Performance are here to help and clear up all this information.
A wheel nut cover does what it says on the tin, it covers your wheel nuts/bolts. They are most commonly made from a hard-wearing plastic designed to fit snuggly over your bolts. They can also be made from steel or silicone. Some sets will even come with covers for your locking wheel nuts if you have them.
What's their purpose?
They may seem a small unimportant item but they do in fact play a crucial role in protecting your wheel bolts. Your wheel bolts are open to the elements all day every day, this will lead to the corrosion of your nuts/bolts. This not only has a massive aesthetic impact on your wheels but can also in extreme circumstances cause safety concerns. At the very least wheel bolt covers will guarantee to improve the look of your wheels for years to come.
What different types are there?
Wheel nut covers come in different sizes and colours. The most common sizes used are 17mm, 19mm, 21mm & 22mm. You can also choose from a vast array of colours such as black, grey, chrome, red & blue. The colour you choose is a personal preference of what you think suits or blends in with the look of your vehicle.
What size do I need?
The size you require can be easily found using a simple socket socket. As we mentioned earlier the most common sizes are 17mm, 19mm, 21mm & 22mm. Your socket set should include all these sizes within. Take each size socket and try fitting over your wheel nuts/bolts, once you find the socket that fits snugly over that nut/bolt then that is the size cover you will require. Alternatively, if you are still unsure you can contact us and we will happily help find the size you require.
